Hi Sasan,
I am setting up a model with the intent of quantifying the wave transformation at an exposed coastal site dominated by long period swells. The model seems to be working as expected for these types of conditions. When I try to test a shorter period wave (1m Hs with 6 second period), I get significant dissipation of the wave energy in the first few cells of the model. In other words, the waves never make it to shore (or my breakwater). Any thoughts on what may be causing this?
Scott
Hi Scott, thanks for your interest in Celeris. I believe that you must use a higher resolution with the shorter waves. 100 grid points per wavelength is a good number, and 20 is the bare minimum, in my experience. What are your wavelength and cell-size? Also note that wave period must also be adequately resolved by the timestep. So using smaller timestep will also help.
